Dr. George L. De Feis is an Assistant Professor of Business Studies at Stockton University, whose expertise includes strategy, international business/management, and sustainability/ESG.  In addition, he has recently written on service-learning initiatives, sustainable development, international trade theory, and strategic management.  His works have been published in the Journal of General Management, International Journal of Business & Applied Sciences, Academy of Business Research Journal, Journal of Business and Economic Research, Journal of Marketing Perspectives and has authored a textbook: Management Science: A Practical Approach for Today’s Business Management Student (2004, 2007), and has contributed chapters in Taylor & Francis and Springer International books.

Dr. De Feis was elected to the Board of Directors of the Business and Applied Sciences Academy of North America (BAASANA) in 2016; Editorial Board of Science Progress in 2019, and was a founding 2013 Board Member of AirSoilWater, a sustainability not-for-profit organization in Pennsylvania.  De Feis received an Academic Innovation Grant for Creating a Service-Learning Course on “Civic Engagement and Public Values” in 2016, was selected as Faculty Advisor of Enactus (Stockton University) in 2020, and was awarded 2013-2014 Bronze Medal Jefferson Award by Pace University for continued civic engagement service, related to the Project Pericles Fellowship he received.

Dr. De Feis has over 25 years of worldly professional and academic experience, covering the fields of strategic management, global affairs, and operations research, and he has consulted to the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds. Dr. De Feis’ interest in tourism stems from the 1980s having served a director of international affairs and conferences director for the American Society of Civil Engineers.  De Feis is a regular (2013-2020) visiting professor at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), and presented works and given lectures in a multitude of countries on five continents.  Dr. De Feis can be reached on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/george-de-feis-0911046/

Dr. Joy Jones has been a keynote speaker and trainer for conferences, leadership forums, corporations, and non-profit organizations throughout the United States. In 2013, she contributed to the acclaimed book, Human Resource Management in the Non-Profit Sector, which focuses on leading in a diverse workforce.  Her research on leadership communication has been published in education, leadership, and management journals. Prior to joining higher education, Dr. Jones worked in media management and production for ESPN and Atlantic Video and served as the Communication Director for the Lt. Governor of Kentucky.

Phil Kening has taught undergraduate Marketing classes in the School of Business at Stockton University since 2006, and both undergraduate and graduate classes at the Haub School of Business at St. Joseph’s University since 2009.  At Stockton, Phil also serves as Marketing Committee Co-Chair for Stockton’s Strategic Enrollment Management Council (SEMP). 

Since 1993, he has been a founder and Principal with Beacon Marketing Group, Inc. which specializes in marketing research, analytics and planning services.  Beacon’s client roster has included leading companies in the food, OTC, automotive, hospitality and technology industries.  Prior to his role at Beacon, Phil was a VP of Marketing for the Sands Hotel and Casino and a Group Marketing Director for Nestles Purina Pet Foods.  At the Sands, Phil had responsibility for the advertising, public relations, marketing research and direct marketing functions for the Atlantic City property and helped introduce the company’s player loyalty program.  At Purina, he was responsible for several national pet food brands, including the national rollout of the Pro Plan line of dog and cat foods.  He holds an MBA and a B.S. in Journalism from Southern Illinois University.

Phil and his wife, Carrie, have lived in Atlantic County for over 30 years.  They have one adult son, David, who resides in Brigantine and is employed by Caesar’s Entertainment in Atlantic City.  Phil has served as a Director and Executive Board member of the Galloway Police Athletic League for over fifteen years and has been a youth travel and college volleyball coach since 1998.  As a coach, he has participated in numerous large-scale events including NCAA Playoffs, National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Championships and AAU Girls Junior Nationals.  He has also assisted in running local / regional volleyball events at Stockton and at the AC Convention Center and Harrah’s.

Kerrin frequently publishes research on school discipline and security, including the role of police in schools.  Exemplary articles include “School Suspensions and Adverse Experiences in Adulthood” (with Aaron Kupchik, PhD), published in Justice Quarterly, and “Civil Right Claims against School Resource Officers,” published in the Pace Law Review.

Kerrin teaches a General Studies course entitled “Drug Epidemics”, in which students create a pop-up museum on the opioid epidemic that teaches the Stockton community about various aspects of the epidemic. He is currently writing articles on the opioid epidemic as a teaching and learning tool.

Kerrin has served on the executive committee of the Faculty Senate at Stockton University for the past several years and recently was elected to serve as the body’s Vice President.

Biography

Dr. Jane Bokunewicz is the Faculty Director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming Hospitality and Tourism (LIGHT) and an Associate Professor of Hospitality Tourism and Event Management in the School of Business at Stockton University.  Bokunewicz worked 22 years in the Atlantic City casino industry with 12 years as Vice President of Administration at Tropicana. She began her career as a computer programmer in the Information Technology department of Playboy Casino. She later held the position of Director of IT at Tropicana and was promoted to Vice President in April of 1994.  Bokunewicz was part of the management team that opened The Quarter, the retail, dining and entertainment facility at the Tropicana.  As Vice President of Administration Bokunewicz oversaw Human Resources, Facilities, Security, Purchasing and Quality Assurance.

Bokunewicz has worked with the LIGHT institute since 2012. She was lead researcher on several LIGHT studies including a study on Millennial entertainment preferences that received international press coverage as well as several studies on underage gambling and college gambling behavior. 

In addition to being lead author of Casino Gaming Technology, Bokunewicz also wrote a chapter in Casino Gaming in Atlantic City, A Thirty-Year Retrospective. Bokunewicz holds a PhD in Communication, Culture and Media from Drexel University and she is a third-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate.

Kerrin frequently publishes research on school discipline and security, including the role of police in schools.  Exemplary articles include “School Suspensions and Adverse Experiences in Adulthood” (with Aaron Kupchik, PhD), published in Justice Quarterly, and “Civil Right Claims against School Resource Officers,” published in the Pace Law Review.

Kerrin teaches a General Studies course entitled “Drug Epidemics”, in which students create a pop-up museum on the opioid epidemic that teaches the Stockton community about various aspects of the epidemic. He is currently writing articles on the opioid epidemic as a teaching and learning tool.

Kerrin has served on the executive committee of the Faculty Senate at Stockton University for the past several years and recently was elected to serve as the body’s Vice President.

Founding Dean of the Stockton School of Business, 2007-2018.   Led successful effort to obtain AACSB accreditation (awarded in 2016), expanded faculty from 35 to 50 full-time faculty members, and enrollment from 1200 to 1800.  Established Hospitality and Tourism Management as a separate concentration, Incorporated Computer Science and Information Systems program into School of Business, established new concentration in Business Analytics, and oversaw the development of new MBA in Healthcare Administration.  Established of the Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality, and Tourism.
