SILL: The Seeds of Activism

SILL: The Seeds of Activism

12/10 & 12/17/2021, 11am-12pm, Stockton University F226 & Online via Zoom | Seeds are stories of their history, genetics and the delighted senses of those who grow them. They've also become a commodity. Join SCOSA director Dave Burdick and Stockton alumnus Jeff Quattrone, an artist and heirloom seed activist and historian, in a conversation about why Jeff's seed activism is necessary and how he combines it with his art. Jeff Quattrone is an artist and an heirloom seed activist and historian. Jeff brought the seed library concept to South Jersey in 2014 with his Library Seed Bank Project, and he uses propaganda as a tool of empowerment to connect people to their seed and food sovereignty rights in his art. The Jersey tomato as the intersection of tomato seed breeding, local food and seed history, and Jersey culture is the focus of Jeff's historical work, along with connecting the public to South Jersey's seed history through the seed libraries he's established.
