Residential Life Student Employment
At Stockton University, the Office of Residential Life offers a variety of student employment opportunities that promote leadership, skill development, and campus engagement. Whether you're a graduate student seeking hands-on supervisory experience, an undergraduate resident assistant building a strong foundation for your career, or a student worker interested in supporting vital housing operations, there’s a role for you within our team. Through each of these positions, students gain transferable skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competencies, preparing them for success beyond Stockton.
Graduate Coordinator Positions
Graduate Coordinators (GCs) are essential members of the Residential Life team. These
positions are ideal for students enrolled in graduate programs who are interested
in developing their supervisory, administrative, and student development skills. GCs
directly supervise a team of undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs), provide mentorship,
respond to student concerns, and assist with on-call responsibilities. A key component
of the role includes working with RAs to create individualized professional development
plans using the NACE competencies, helping student staff identify and grow in critical
career readiness areas such as leadership, communication, and critical thinking.
Resident Assistant Roles
Resident Assistants are undergraduate student leaders who foster community, provide peer support, and contribute to a vibrant residential experience. RAs work under the supervision of Graduate Coordinators and collaborate with campus partners to support student success. In addition to their responsibilities in building community and promoting safety, RAs participate in ongoing training and create professional development plans using the NACE competencies. These plans are tailored in partnership with their supervisors to help them identify strengths, explore career pathways, and enhance their leadership potential.
A limited number of RA positions are reserved for incoming transfer students who have demonstrated leadership experience at a previous institution and wish to contribute meaningfully to the residential community at Stockton. Additionally, select RAs serve as Academic Resident Assistants, providing coaching and mentorship to students, while helping them build essential academic and life skills such as time management, study strategies, and personal accountability.
Student Staff and Hourly Opportunities
Residential Life also employs a variety of work-study and hourly student workers in
support roles across campus. These positions offer flexible hours and meaningful work
experiences in areas such as office assistance, customer service, and facilities coordination.
Students interested in these positions should visit one of the Residential Life offices—A-100
(Galloway), Lakeside, or Atlantic City—with a copy of their resume to inquire about
current openings. Residential Life will explore hiring both work-study and non-work-study
students based on departmental needs and student availability. These roles provide
valuable professional experience and are a great entry point into student leadership
on campus.
Residential Services Student Worker
The Residential Services Student Worker (RSSW) is an elevated student leadership position
that provides both hourly compensation and free on-campus housing. This opportunity
is designed for students who have demonstrated exceptional reliability, initiative,
and a commitment to improving the residential experience. RSSWs support special projects,
housing operations, and department-wide initiatives, working closely with professional
staff. Students interested in applying should submit a resume and cover letter to
Brian.Pluchino@stockton.edu. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA or higher, or have demonstrated strong leadership through prior experiences, including before attending Stockton. Ongoing training and mentorship are provided
to support continued leadership growth.
Summer Conference Worker Positions
Summer Conference Workers play a key role in supporting Stockton's summer housing
and conference programs. These student staff members assist with guest check-ins and
check-outs, room inspections, customer service, and coordination of conference group
needs. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain hospitality and event management
experience while living on campus during the summer months. Summer Conference Workers
work flexible hours and are essential to creating a positive experience for visiting
guests and groups.
