Volunteers, Vendors Needed for Atlantic City Community Day

Stockton students Monica Crispin, left, and Carlos Roca, both of Trenton, pick up trash in a parking lot near the former Atlantic Club casino in Atlantic City during last year’s Community Day Clean Up and Party in the Park in Atlantic City. There’s still time to volunteer for this year’s event on Oct. 24.
Atlantic City, N.J. — The Fifth Annual Community Day Clean Up and Party in the Park is looking for vendors and volunteers to help beautify Atlantic City’s streets and beaches on Saturday, Oct. 24.
This year’s event will feature cleanup locations throughout the city from the Northeast Inlet to Lower Chelsea. Volunteers will check in at 8:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. start time for their cleanup site, which will continue until 11:30 a.m. Trash-pickers and bags will be provided, but volunteers are asked to bring their own gloves. Boots and sneakers are preferred. No open-toed shoes. Last year’s volunteers removed over one ton of trash from community streets and the beach.
Each volunteer will receive a food truck meal voucher that can be redeemed at the Party in the Park at O’Donnell Park near Stockton’s Atlantic City campus.
The Party in the Park begins at 11 a.m. and runs to 2 p.m. and will feature DJ Ahmed Khan, music, crafters, a petting zoo, fall art projects, henna and face painting and outdoor games. The party will also include large-scale community arts projects that will be displayed on Stockton’s Atlantic City campus and in locations in the city.
Vendors can be artists or crafters with high-quality work with an original or person viewpoint, and local community partners or nonprofit organizations offering resources to the neighborhood.
The cleanup is in partnership with the City of Atlantic City, the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Special Improvement Division, the city’s four community development corporations, the Atlantic City Community Fund and all six ward neighborhood associations.
Go online to sign up for the cleanup or to apply to be a vendor. Online registration for the cleanup will end at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, but walk-up registration will be available the day of the event. If you are registering a group, please email stephanie.clineman@stockton.edu.
For more information, call 609-626-3846. The rain date for the event is Sunday, Oct. 25.
