Galloway, N.J. –Stockton University will offer a 20% discount on undergraduate summer tuition and fees for students who want to live on campus and work and learn at the shore this summer.

The Board of Trustees approved the discount at the Dec. 6 meeting.

The goal is to give college students the opportunity to remain in Galloway or Atlantic City campus housing while they take classes or work over the summer.

"Summer housing provides students a 12-month housing experience for those who want to work, study or need stable housing,” said Steven Radwanski, assistant vice president for Student Living and Learning. “Stockton provides students with a year-round home while they are preparing for their futures.”

Summer housing begins May 11 and runs through Aug. 10. Stockton academic-year residential students may opt-in to a 12-month contract for summer for an additional fee. 

Nearly 400 courses are being offered over the summer, with over 250 offered online. With the 20% discount, undergraduate in-state students would pay $378 per credit, or $1,512 per four-credit course, a savings of $376. The rate for undergraduate out-of-state students is $556 per credit or $2,224 per course.

Registration for summer courses opens on Jan. 8. There are three summer sessions starting in May and June and lasting either six or 10 weeks, plus 12-week internship and independent study programs.

Last summer nearly 450 students lived at Stockton, including about 200 students participating in the Stockton Atlantic City Summer Experience. The program provided students housing at Stockton’s Kesselman Hall, jobs with one of a dozen different area employers, and a free four-credit course for new participants. Applications for the 2024 program are now available.

In other business, the board approved a contract with Brailsford & Dunlavey, Inc., to conduct a feasibility study for continued expansion in Atlantic City. The proposed Phase III is currently a 2.25-acre parking lot between Hartford and Albany avenues. Stockton does not own the property but would partner with AC Devco in the development of the project. Stockton received $1 million in its FY24 state appropriations to assist in the planning of Phase III.

Mission Moment

In the September board meeting, President Bertolino introduced the Mission Moment, a time during each meeting to connect back to Stockton’s mission of developing students into engaged and effective citizens.

Wednesday’s Mission Moment focused on the impact and importance of the university’s work to enroll and graduate transfer students, providing them with the education and experience they need to succeed and better our community. Kevin Kusion, ’16, who transferred from Ocean County College and is currently working for Google, discussed how his experiences at Stockton prepared him for employment in the information technology sector. Pamela Monaco, president of OCC, addressed the benefit of the Transfer Pathway agreement between the two institutions.
