Get Outdoors, Ospreys!

outdoors

With 1,600 acres of wooded Pinelands, and the Atlantic Ocean at our doorsteps, access to the great outdoors is just one of the many reasons to choose Stockton – and stay socially distanced.

So don’t stay cooped up in your rooms, Ospreys.  Get outside and play (or study!)

Study in the Quad: That big green lawn across from the Campus Center between the Health Sciences and Unified Sciences Center 2 is just the place to enjoy the sun (and study, of course).

Study near the Boardwalk: Living in Atlantic City? The residential courtyard and its deck chairs are waiting for you.

Take it Outside: Yes, the indoor fitness facilities are closed for now.  But the outdoor basketball court, tennis courts, street hockey rink and the track are open and ready.  Just follow guidelines and don’t invite a crowd, and you’re good to play.

Take a walk (or run): Take a tip from the local deer and enjoy the trails that run through campus and around Lake Fred.

Get FIT: Try the 10 stations at Stockton’s Fitness Integration and Training fitness trail near Pomona Road by the intramural fields.

Ride a bike: Residential Life has bikes available for the semester, or just a short ride around campus or on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Have a seat:Chairs, benches and tables are placed around campus, along College Drive, and outside the Campus Center, Lakeside Lodge, N-Wing and the Atlantic City Academic Center. Pick up a coffee or lunch and enjoy.

Hit the beach: The Albany Avenue beach across from the Atlantic City campus is one of the nicest in the city.  Need we say more?

Catch a fish:  Bring a rod and try your luck surf-fishing in Atlantic City or in freshwater at Lake Fred. Enthusiasts can join the Stockton Fishing Club.

Join a Club: Stockton has more than 260 student clubs and organizations, many of them with outdoor themes. Learn more at the Virtual Get Involved Fair on Sept. 22-24.

Go out and play:  Athletics has added Cornhole, Washers, KanJam, and Spikeball in front of the Sports Center from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  New horseshoe pits are on field 2 behind the Housing 2 dorms. Tournaments are planned.
