Stockton Psi Chi
About Psi Chi
Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. As the National Honor Society in Psychology, Psi Chi is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) with over 1,250 chapters located in colleges and universities all over the US and Canada.
Stockton Chapter
The Stockton University chapter of Psi Chi started in 1979. Over 950 Stockton students have become Psi Chi members since then. In 2024, we celebrated 45 years of the Stockton Psi Chi Chapter!
Our undergraduate research conference was started in the Spring of 2008 by Stockton psychology professor, Dr. Christine Ferri.
Prior to that point we had our honors students present their research to psychology faculty, but not to the general public.
By combining the students' presentations of their honors research with the Psi Chi induction ceremony, a new Undergraduate Research Conference was created.
Stockton University Psi Chi Chapter hosts a number of events and career development opportunities including:
- Yearly Research conferences
- Career panels
- Service projects, and many other activities.
For more information please contact either the chapter president, vice president, or the faculty advisor.

The Psi Chi Induction Ceremony is an opportunity for you to have your accomplishment of becoming a member of Psi Chi publicly recognized.
Any new member of the Stockton Psi Chi chapter is eligible to participate in the Induction Ceremony.
The induction ceremony takes place in April each spring semester, during the Undergraduate Psychology Conference held at Stockton University.
Do I have to attend?
No. The ceremony is a public event at which your name will be called, and your membership
materials will be presented to you. If you cannot attend the event, you may receive
your materials directly from the Psi Chi faculty advisor.
Why should I attend?
The Induction Ceremony is an opportunity for you to stand with your fellow members
and be recognized as part of the membership class for the year. Parents and guardians
are welcome and often attend the event. Your photo will be taken when you receive
your membership materials, as well as a group picture of all new inductees. In addition,
you can learn more about topics related to psychology in a presentation given by a
keynote speaker, as well as fellow Stockton psychology majors who wish to present
their own research.
