Galloway, N.J. – The Stockton Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA) will screen the film, “Being Mortal,” on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Stockton’s
Manahawkin Instructional Site, located at 712 East Bay Ave. in Manahawkin, N.J. Light
refreshments will be provided.
FRONTLINE films, the PBS documentary series, follows Atul Gawande, renowned writer for New Yorker magazine and a surgeon in Boston, Mass., as he explores the relationships doctors have with patients who are nearing the end of life.
In conjunction with Gawande’s new book of the same title, “Being Mortal” investigates the practice of caring for the dying, and shows how doctors – himself included – are “often untrained, ill-suited and uncomfortable" talking about chronic illness and death with their patients.
Attendees must register by calling 609-626-3883. For more information on activities and classes at the Manahawkin Instructional Site, visit: www.stockton.edu/Manahawkin.
