Galloway, N.J. - Golfers are encouraged to sign up now for the Annual Stockton University Golf Classic, to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club, 401 S. New York Road, Galloway, N.J.

Among the tournament’s highlights are a chance to “Beat the Pro,” LPGA Professional Laura Diaz, whose career earnings so far have topped $5.3 million. She joined the LPGA Tour in 1999 and has won two tournament victories and finished in the Top 10 over 55 times.

A new feature this year for those interested in learning to play golf or improving their game is the opportunity to have a golf lesson with local pro golfers and join in dinner afterward to network with the supporters of Stockton. Sponsored by attorneys Bonnie D. Putterman, a Stockton graduate with law offices in Mays Landing, N.J. and Michael C. Epps of The Epps Law Firm in Galloway, N.J., the golf clinic is perfect for golfers of all skill levels. Golf lessons begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person.

Charles C. Weeks, Jr., founder and president of Barrister Wealth Management, LLC, and an assistant professor of Business Studies and Finance at Stockton, is sponsoring the Million Dollar Hole-in-One Challenge. One lucky golfer will have the chance to make a hole-in-one on a Par 3 for $1 million.

Proceeds from the Golf Classic support the Stockton Foundation’s mission, to continue to enrich the student experience. Last year’s Classic was the most successful to date, raising more than $70,000. Tickets for the tournament are $250 per individual or $1,000 per foursome.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with registration, lunch and a silent auction, followed by the 1 p.m. shotgun start - scramble format. Course accommodations are based on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in the lesson/dinner option should arrive at 3:30 p.m. There will also be a 50/50, contests and prizes for men and women golfers. A cocktail reception, dinner and awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., as the silent auction continues.

The tournament’s title sponsor is Walt’s Original Primo Pizza. Additional sponsorships, including hole signs, are available, as well as tournament packages.

Tournament co-chairs are Weeks and Wendy Bartlett ’93, senior vice president/team leader at Fulton Bank of New Jersey.
