Galloway, N.J. - Each Saturday, beginning Jan. 28 from 10:30 a.m. until noon, anyone who has Alzheimer’s or a related disorder and is in the early stage will have a place to call their own at the Memory Café.

The Memory Café is a partnership of the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter and the Stockton Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA). The weekly gatherings will take place at F-Wing, Room 121 at Stockton University, 101 Vera King Farris Drive, Galloway, N.J.

Pre-registration for Memory Café is required. To pre-register or for more information, please contact David Johnson, the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter’s REC Center Coordinator, at 800-272-3900 or email djjohnson@alz.org.

“It can be challenging for people with Alzheimer’s or a related disorder to maintain social ties with people who do not understand dementia,” said Johnson. “Memory Café gives people who are in the earlier stages of their disease the opportunity to meet and socialize with others who are facing similar experiences in a fun and supportive environment.”

Memory Café is free of charge and will give those living with dementia the chance to have fun and develop new friendships in a safe and relaxed environment. Everyone’s care partners are also welcome.

“This program is a natural extension of Stockton and SCOSA’s long-term commitment to addressing the needs of residents with cognitive impairment and their caregivers, along with our ongoing collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association in numerous efforts, including the association’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s and public hearings, as well as survey preparation for the New Jersey Alzheimer’s Disease Study Commission,” noted SCOSA Director David Burdick.
