Galloway, N.J. – The Murphy Writing Center of Stockton University will host the Autumn Writing Getaway on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Campus Center, located on Stockton’s main Galloway campus. The program is currently accepting registrations from community members and Stockton University students who are interested in writing fiction, memoir or poetry.
The $80 tuition includes lunch and seven hours of professional development credit. Advance registration is required. For full registration information, visit Stockton.edu/murphywriting or call 609-626-3594.
Peter Murphy, an adjunct professor at Stockton, will lead the seminar, following the method he developed in his 35 years of teaching writing.
Participants will discuss the craft issues facing professionals before writing to several prompts to stretch the writers’ abilities of expression. Participants will then share their work in read-around sessions.
“Writing is typically a solitary act,” Murphy explained. “But when writers come together in a supportive community that encourages them to push their boundaries, they often experience breakthroughs.”
