Galloway, N.J. - Learn how Polynesians are changing high school, college and professional football at a free screening of “In Football We Trust,” at Stockton University’s Manahawkin Instructional Site on Monday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.

“In Football We Trust,” part of the Emmy award-winning series Independent Lens on PBS, chronicles the journey of young Polynesian-American men in Utah, as they transform out of their adolescence, striving to take warrior culture to the next level — through American football. The film follows the genealogy of Polynesian football, the Utah pipeline, and the profound ways their loyalty, rituals, passion and ferocity have changed the game and the fan base of football.

The free public event, sponsored by Stockton’s Office of Service-Learning and the Manahawkin Instructional Site, will be held at 712 E. Bay Ave., Manahawkin, N.J.  Light refreshments will be provided. Call 609-626-3883 to R.S.V.P.

Independent Lens airs weekly on PBS Monday at 10 p.m. Presented by Independent Television Service, the series is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a private corporation funded by the American people, with additional funding from PBS and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. For more information, visit pbs.org/independentlens. Join the conversation on Facebook and on Twitter.
