A late Labor Day weekend gave the Stockton University Ospreys an extra week to enjoy summer break. For new and returning students, there are exciting changes on campus including the opening of our newly renovated library and learning commons, more academic options, a celebration of 50 years of performing arts on campus and more. 

A New Chapter Opens at the Library

The two-year renovation of the Richard E. Bjork Library and Learning Commons is complete, and the new library and learning commons will be open for the first day of classes. 

Bookmark Sept. 10 on your calendar for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony that starts at 10 a.m. 

The number of study rooms has tripled, and the learning commons space will remain open after the library closes. Three podcast rooms with Rode audio equipment and professional lighting will be available by appointment.

The Writing and Math Tutoring Centers, formerly in J wing, are now located in the library on the lower level along with the Learning Access Program.

Other highlights include a new Special Collections Reading Room, the Center for Teaching and Learning Design and the School of Arts and Humanities Communications studio. Explore the spaces online. 

Bean’s List is Back, Expanded Menu at Chick-Fil-A  

The library re-opening means the Bean’s List is back. The cafe, which serves Starbucks coffee and grab-and-go baked goods and breakfast items, will be open starting Sept. 8. 

The newly renovated Chick-Fil-A in the Osprey Food Court will offer their full menu including salads, mac and cheese and more. Orders can be placed at any of the Food Court kiosks as well as the dedicated Chick-Fil-A kiosk and through Boost Mobile. Check-in is available 15 minutes before pickup time.

New Academic Options

Students from any major who are interested in starting their own business can earn a certificate in Entrepreneurship to gain the skills needed to build, launch and scale regional and global businesses.

A second certificate in Business Management Fundamentals in Hospitality helps students develop leadership skills that will translate to many fields from healthcare to the arts. Course work explores the foundations of accounting, marketing, human resources and business law. 

Both certificates are offered by the School of Business and require four classes.

A new interdisciplinary concentration in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics will allow Mathematics majors to earn a minor in Economics.

Transfer students coming from Atlantic Cape Community College and Essex County College will have six new transfer pathways. 

Sports Center to Get Refreshed Look

Students and families visiting Stockton University for the first time at Open House on Oct. 17 will experience the Sports Center, fondly known as Big Blue, with its refreshed look that incorporates school colors and branding.

Photo banners featuring student athletes will be on display on the building's exterior. 

Renovations will take place during the start of the fall semester with some impact to parking and traffic flow. Please stay tuned for email updates regarding any changes to parking in Lot 5 (in front of the Sports Center). 

Celebrating 50 Years of Performing Arts

The Stockton Performing Arts Center (PAC) celebrates 50 years of building a community and showcasing live arts on campus. 

Patrick Warburton who played Puddy on Seinfeld and starred in Netflix’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events” as Lemony Snicket is bringing his stand-up comedy to the PAC on Jan. 23, 2027. Journey’s former lead vocalist Steve Augeri will take the stage on Nov. 13.

Student talents will be showcased during the Stockton Theatre Project Nov. 12-14 and the Fall Choreography Project Dec. 3-5.
