Foundation Surpasses Goal During Eighth Annual Ospreys Give

Stockton President Joe Bertolino joins the university community to celebrate a record number of donors during the annual Ospreys Give campaign

Galloway, N.J. — The Stockton University Foundation’s eighth annual Ospreys Give inspired a powerful outpouring of generosity and pride from the Stockton community, surpassing its goals during the 24-hour celebration of giving and gratitude held Oct. 8 and 9.

Embracing the theme “One Day, One Stockton,” the campaign united alumni, students, faculty, staff, families and friends in support of the programs and priorities that shape Stockton’s future and impact student success.

In all, 1,446 donors contributed $608,852, benefiting 140 initiatives across the university — including scholarships, academic programs, athletics, student support programs and more. Both the number of donors and the amount raised broke records set in previous giving day campaigns at Stockton.

This year’s Ospreys Give demonstrates the power of our community to turn vision into action. As we move forward with our Strategic Plan, this collective generosity underscores the confidence our supporters have in Stockton’s future and the shared commitment to advancing student success and innovation.”

Members of various student organizations and athletic teams, alumni, university faculty and staff served as advocates for the day, volunteering to rally support through their own networks. Advocates worked to solicit support for the Stockton causes they care about most by inspiring others to join them in donating.

Earlier this month while unveiling the university’s new Strategic Plan, President Joe Bertolino also announced a bold new fundraising strategy that includes plans to double annual giving at the institution, expanding support for scholarships, student success and innovation.

“This year’s Ospreys Give demonstrates the power of our community to turn vision into action,” Bertolino said. “As we move forward with our Strategic Plan, this collective generosity underscores the confidence our supporters have in Stockton’s future and the shared commitment to advancing student success and innovation.”

Throughout the event, matches and challenge gifts multiplied the impact of giving, including a $250,000 challenge from Spencer’s and Spirit Halloween, returning as the lead sponsor for the third consecutive year. Additional challenges included a $50,000 gift from Tom Kinsella, director of the South Jersey Culture and History Center and distinguished professor of Literature, and a $20,000 match from the Gormley and Levine families.

“The results of our most successful Ospreys Give to date are reflective of the momentum we’re seeing in support for Stockon,” said Dan Nugent, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Stockton University Foundation. “The community continues to come together to open doors of opportunity for our students and make a lasting difference. We’re grateful for every donor, advocate and partner who made this year’s campaign such a success.”
