Foundation Golf Classic Raises More Than $115,000 for Scholarships

The Stockton Foundation provides more than $1 million annually in scholarship support and funding for innovative programs, faculty research, student groups and other initiatives that directly impact student success.
Galloway, N.J. — The Stockton University Foundation’s Annual Golf Classic raised more than $115,000 in support of scholarships and student success initiatives on Sept. 15 at Renault Winery and Resort.
The sold-out tournament featured two flights, bringing together more than 220 alumni, community partners, businesses and friends for a day of golf, camaraderie and giving back.
“The generosity shown through the Golf Classic translates directly into opportunity for our students,” said Dan Nugent, Stockton’s vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Stockton Foundation. “Every scholarship, every program supported, helps ensure our Ospreys can focus on learning and achieving their dreams without being held back by financial barriers.”
Golfers enjoyed contests for all skill levels, including Men’s and Women’s Closest to the Pin, Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive, Tournament Champion and a $10,000 Hole-in-One Challenge – where one player scored a hole-in-one to win a resort getaway. Off the course, participants tested their luck in the 50/50 raffle, the Tito’s Spirit Grab and the crowd-favorite Putt for Prizes.
For the past two years, Caryn Quieti and Sheryl Sobiesiak have sponsored the lunch at the golf classic in honor of their mother, Barbara Chamberlain, who graduated from Stockton in 1990.
“It’s an honor for us to continue the tradition our mother began so many years ago,” Quieti and Sobiesiak said. “As a proud Stockton alumna, she was deeply committed to its students, and we're grateful to carry on her legacy supporting a cause that meant so much to her, and now to us."
