Club Connect: Meet the... Stockton Geocaching Club

The Stockton Geocaching Club is just one way to get involved at Stockton University.
Galloway, N.J. – If you’ve ever gone on a walk or a hike outdoors, you may have noticed a small container amid the brush or a pipe that doesn’t look quite right. Those are likely geocaches.
The club doesn’t have set days to meet; instead, it communicates via GroupMe to discuss future gatherings and trips. They will also explore trails and hike around New Jersey to find other geocaches outside of the university.
Previous trips included going to the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton and to the Queens Museum. Their next trip is on Dec. 7, where they will be going to the Philadelphia Holiday Village and Wissahickon Park in Pennsylvania.
If you're interested in the Geocaching club you can contact them via OspreyHub, join their GroupMe and follow them on Instagram.
Geocaching is practically treasure hunting: a person hides a container in a spot and then logs it on geocaching.com for others to find.
The Stockton Geocaching Club was founded in 2023 by Stockton alum Forrest Jennings, who was inspired by his love for the sport. The club is now helmed by current Environmental Studies major Dylan Budd, whose goal is to go to new places and create new geocaches for people to find.
The club is currently trying to find new members. According to Budd, “We want people who love geocaching and show up consistently to trips and events.” As many of the current members are soon to graduate, Budd hopes younger students will join and keep the club going for future years to come.
On Stockton’s Galloway campus alone, there are 17 hidden geocaches that students can find, from ones hidden by Lakes Fred and Pam to some hidden in less-known places like Lake Naomi and Oak Pond.
