Club Connect: Meet the... Stockton Camping Club

The Stockton Camping Club is just one way to get involved at Stockton University.

Galloway, N.J. – People have never been more connected in history, but that comes with the stress of always being logged on. This leads some students to go on hikes or walks to escape the endless death scroll on TikTok or the constant barrage of Blackboard notifications.

Typically, the club will go camping at least twice a semester. Meetings occur right before everyone departs for the campsite, mostly to plan carpools and iron out any final details. If you're interested in the outdoors and camping, you can stay up to date with the club on Instagram and join on OspreyHub.

For a small number of students, though, their escape is a bit deeper into the woods: the Stockton Camping Club, established in 2023, allows students to get  away  and instead go on group excursions to Bass River State Park or Hawkin Bridge Campground.

The camping trips typically last a night, with hikes and group activities happening throughout the day, culminating in a campfire at the end of the night.

The club is currently looking for “Anybody that is outgoing or has any interest in nature. Just anyone who is enthusiastic and ready to make new friends,” said Samantha Flatten, an Environmental Studies major from Waldwick.
