Veterans Week Activities Include Resource Fair, Concert
Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University will host a series of events during Veterans Week Nov.4-12. All are open to the public.
Monday- Wednesday Nov. 4-6: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.: “Frontline Paper” workshop in Independence Plaza behind the Camus Center. Learn to make handmade paper from military uniforms, and hear stories presented by Stockton service members.
Monday, Nov. 4: 12 p.m.-4 p.m.: Veteran’s Resource Fair in the Campus Center Board of Trustees Room. Hosted by Congressman Jeff Van Drew, and featuring representatives from Veteran’s Health Administration, IRS, Utility Partners, the Veterans Benefits Administrations and more.
Tuesday, Nov. 5: 7:30-9:30 p.m.: “Veterans Monologue” session in the Campus Center Theatre. Hear the personal stories of veterans on service, war and homecoming.
Wednesday, Nov. 6: 4-5:30 p.m.: “The Weight of Honor” documentary screening in the Campus Center Theatre. Watch the first comprehensive documentary to chronicle the lives of families caring for the catastrophically wounded returning from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Friday, Nov. 8: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Veterans Day Celebration in the Campus Center Grand Hall followed by lunch in the Board of Trustees Room.
Saturday, Nov. 9: 7:30 p.m.: Free Veterans Day concert in the Performing Arts Center. The Bay Atlantic Symphony will perform many patriotic favorites. Stockton University student veteran George Galesky will be the guest conductor for Stars and Stripes Forever. The event is free, but tickets are required to attend. Tuesday, Nov. 12: Stockton Athletics will honor military members and veterans during halftime at the men's basketball game vs. Salisbury at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center. Free admission for all service members, veterans and their families. Proceeds from the game will got to Stockton's Got Your Six Fund to assist student veterans and military.
Veteran’s Week activities are sponsored by Stockton University, the Office of Military and Veteran’s Services, the Stockton Student Veterans Organization, Stockton Athletics and the Bay Atlantic Symphony.
