Athletes Help Make Special Olympics a Gold Medal Event

Members of the Stockton volleyball team held a clinic for Special Olympics participants

Galloway, N.J. _  Stockton University hosted more than 800 participants in the Special Olympics New Jersey Winter Olympics on Jan. 4-6.

Stockton Volleyball and Ice Hockey coaches and athletes provided clinics for the Special Olympic participants.

The Cross Country and Track & Field coaches and athletes conducted the Snowflake 3K Run/Walk.

The Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams assisted with the set-up and breakdown of the Sports Center that transformed it into the venue for the floor hockey tournament and related activities.  Events were also held at the Galloway Township Middle School.

“This continues to be a terrific partnership for the university and the community,” Stockton Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Kevin McHugh said in thanking all those who participated.
