Conover named SJTCA Small College Player of the Year

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University senior Summer Conover (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) was chosen Small College Player of the Year by the South Jersey Tennis Coaches Association (SJTCA). Conover received the award at the annual SJTCA banquet at Auletto Catering in Woodbury yesterday. She was nominated by Stockton head coach Harry Silverstein and selected by a panel of South Jersey tennis coaches.

Conover led the Ospreys in singles wins during the fall, posting an 11-3 mark as the team’s No. 1 singles player. The senior went 8-3 in dual matches to spark Stockton to a 9-2 record, and she also claimed the No. 1 singles crown at the Goucher Open tournament with three straight wins.

Conover paired with Kristen McCormick (Galloway/Absegami) to form the No. 1 doubles tandem for the Ospreys. The duo went 8-3 on the season and finished second on the squad in doubles victories. Conover was chosen NJAC Player of the Week twice this fall and led Stockton to second place in the NJAC with a 4-1 league record.

Conover is a four-year letter winner who boasts career records of 46-26 in singles and 31-25 in doubles during her career. She ranks sixth in Stockton history in singles wins and will have a chance to move up a couple spots plus crack the top 10 in doubles wins when the team returns to action for more matches during their spring season.
