Ed Vezinho ‘Hiptet’ to Perform Jazz Classics March 1 at Stockton’s Alton Auditorium

Galloway, N.J. - The Ed Vezinho “Hiptet,” a seven-piece jazz ensemble, will perform classics by composers such as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane at Stockton University’s Alton Auditorium on Wednesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.

The band features musicians on alto and tenor saxophones, trumpet and trombone, piano, bass and drums. Join them as they present musical arrangements by Vezinho, Stockton’s own jazz composer-in-residence. He promises this show will have you dancing in your seat.

Vezinho, a woodwinds specialist, has been performing on professionally since 1975. He has solo credits with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Shirley Bassey, Tony Bennett, Bernadette Peters and the Temptations. An internationally renowned composer and arranger, Vezinho has had his music performed and recorded by Mel Tormé, Maureen McGovern and numerous professional organizations, universities and high school bands.

Tickets may be ordered at stockton.edu/pac. General admission is $15; or $10 for senior citizens and $8 for students with ID. Tickets may also be purchased by calling the Box Office at (609) 652-9000.  The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 90 minutes before the performance. 

The Alton Auditorium is located on the second floor of the A-Wing on the Galloway campus, just off Jimmie Leeds Road, at 101 Vera King Farris Drive.
