Galloway, N.J. - The world-renowned Central State University Chorus will make a rare South Jersey appearance at Stockton University on Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Theatre.

The CSU Chorus is under the direction on Jeremy Winston, an innovative leader and musician who has inspired many by sharing his passion with the global community.  He is the founder of The Jeremy Winston Chorale, LLC and assistant professor of Music and chorus director at Central State University (CSU), a historically black university in Wilberforce, Ohio.

The highly acclaimed Central State University Chorus has a repertoire encompassing all periods and styles, including spirituals of African Americans, gospel and jazz. Recent performance highlights include performances at the Congressional Black Caucus’ Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. in September and a highly acclaimed performance for the inauguration of Ohio Gov. John Kasich. In 2013, the Chorus performed at the White House for the annual holiday celebration at the invitation of First Lady Michelle Obama. The Chorus also performed in the rotunda of the United State Senate’s Russell Building in 2013 and returned for an encore performance in 2014.

The Chorus received outstanding international acclaim in June of 2014 on a month long tour of Europe. They left filled-to-capacity concert halls in an ecstatic uproar after every concert. The Chorus performed in over a dozen major metropolitan cities including Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia, Spain; Prague, Czech Republic; Durbach, Germany; and Strausbourg, France. The CSU Chorus concluded the tour with a performance in Prague’s historic Obecní dům [O-bets-nee doom] concert hall with the world-renowned Czech National Symphony Orchestra for the summer Proms Concert series.

This is a unique opportunity to hear and experience the wonderful sounds of the Grammy- nominated Central State University Chorus, which has not performed in South Jersey in over 25 years. The concert is being sponsored by Highest Praise Gospel Choir and the Stockton University Music Program. The concert is free to the public, but a free-will offering will be taken.
