Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM) 101: What It Is and Clinical Applications

Ethical Non Monogamy

Are you experiencing an uptick of clients who are non-monogamous? Are you hearing more clients talk about polyamory, open relationships, play partners, or that are curious about these dynamics? Does the relationship therapy you provide now include 3,4, (or more!) partners? Then this workshop is for you. As ethical non-monogamy has gained increased visibility and acceptance in recent years, there is much to learn about what it is, what it isn't, and how to best work with clients who are either considering exploring ENM, or already identify as ENM.

This all-day workshop will be held in-person at our Stockton Atlantic City Campus, and includes free parking, free continental breakfast, free afternoon coffee & refreshments. A lunch break will be provided to all participants with ample food options available for purchase on-site and immediately off-campus; or pack your own lunch and enjoy the beach, boardwalk, or O’Donnell Park during your break.

MAY 2023

Understanding the Grieving Client

Understanding the Greiving Client: Familial and Traumatic Loss Certificate

“Understanding the Grieving Client: Familial and Traumatic Loss Certificate” is a collection of 5 courses taught by Jennifer Vazquez, LCSW, specially curated for clinicians working with clients coping with grief and the deep loss of losing loved ones. This series will include:

Introduction to Grief - Thursday, May 4, 2023 - Participants of this “Intro” course will gain a detailed understanding of an expected clinical grief presentation, environmental factors (family dynamics, employment, finances, etc.) that are affected after a death, as well as the basic framework for conceptualizing and treating the grieving client.

Grief and Death of Spouse/Partner - Thursday, May 18, 2023 - Participants of this course will discuss the impact of death and grief suffered with the loss of a spouse, partner, and/or significant other. Often regarded as only second to losing a child, losing a spouse/partner will have a multi-year symptom presentation. This course will review the “business of grief” (including events such as memorial and estate planning), the therapist's role in providing support, grieving with minor children, dating after the loss of a spouse/partner, and overall family dynamics.

Grief and Death of a Child - Thursday, June 1, 2023 - Participants of this course will discuss the deep impact surrounding the death of a child and how losing a child changes grieving parents.  This course will outline grief on a four year time line (including a symptoms presentation, suicide assessment, and the therapist role in providing support), family dynamics, workplace impacts, and restoring ‘homeostatis’.

Grief and Frontline Workers - Thursday, June 15, 2022 - Participants of this course will discuss the impact of death and grief frontline workers (Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs, Behavioral Health Staff, etc.) regularly face in their professional careers.  We will define frontline workers, discuss the often-overlooked support staff, and review the goals and ethics surrounding educated professionals in these fields. Additional clinical work will be centered around the impact of the COVID Pandemic/”Return to Normal” resentment, Psychological First Aid, and supporting those considering retirement and/or career change due to grief and trauma.

Grief and Ambiguous Loss - Thursday, June 22, 2023 **NEW for 2023** -   Participants of this course will learn to define “Ambiguous Loss”, both physical and psychological, recognize various types of loss which land in this category - including miscarriage, divorce, immigration, incarceration, estranged family, and more - and how these are different than loss resulting from death. Participants will also review treatment goals and guidelines for working with clients in clinical settings.

By selecting this option, participants will be automatically enrolled in all five courses, receive 14 Clinical CEUs, a special certificate of completion, and a discounted price for the “bundle”. This series is designed for new and seasoned professionals in private practice or conducting therapy on an outpatient basis.
