Course Description: This course, part of our Academic Writing Program, focuses on helping masters-level, doctoral-level and capstone-level undergraduate students rethink, revise, and edit their current research projects. This live, online course will walk students through their research paper, thesis, and/or dissertation from conception to their discussion section. Divided into four, 2-hour sessions, each meeting will consist of instruction, direct application to writing samples, review of self-editing techniques, and the opportunity to ask our expert instructor questions. Additional personalized feedback will also be provided to each participant’s paper by the instructor at the conclusion of the course. Upon leaving this course, participants will be able to identify and incorporate the required elements of a research paper, formulate a research question and/or hypothesis correctly, identify measures to operationalize research variables, correctly cite sources in both literature reviews and discussion, self-edit their research paper, and learn to receive constructive criticism to improve their writing. All participants registering for this course should have the minimum of an established research question and collected data. Participants with active research paper/thesis drafts or dissertation prospectus are strongly encouraged to attend.
