Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust- Film and Discussion

Wednesday, 11/1/2023, 1-3pm, Stockton at Hammonton or Online via Zoom, 30 Front Street | Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust is a documentary featuring Israeli violinmaker Amnon Weinstein and his efforts to restore violins recovered from the Holocaust. Some were played by Jewish prisoners in concentration camps; others belonged to the Klezmer musical culture, which was all but destroyed by the Nazis. This film screening will be in commemoration of Kristallnacht, which took place on November 9th and 10th in 1938. The post-screening discussion will be hosted by Stockton educator Pearl Margolis (Peppy), the daughter of Holocaust survivors and longtime Holocaust Educator. She was previously the Director of the Holocaust & Genocide Studies Institute at Raritan Valley Community College and has produced 3 films on the Holocaust.
