Merengue is an easy ‘marching’ Latin dance done with a partner. While the Dominican Republic has claimed it as their national dance, it is popular throughout the Carribean, South America, and ballrooms and clubs world over. Leaders gently ‘invite’ their follower to move through interesting patterns and ‘pretzel knots’ to end up back in regular dance position. Due to its fun light-hearted spirit, merengue music beckons even the most novice dancers to the dance floor!
