Marine Technology Society Helps Students Discover Careers
Marine Science seniors Peyton Benson and Caitlin Turner helped to organize a Marine Technology Society summer webinar series for students to connect with experts and learn about careers in hydrography, the science
of surveying bodies of water.
Six presentations throughout the summer will feature discussions by industry professionals, researchers and software developers on the tools, techniques and applications for future hydrographers. Each session will provide a Q&A period and a chance for students to engage with professionals in the field of hydrography. Hughes Center to Host 2nd District Online Debate
The William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University will sponsor an online debate among Democratic primary House candidates in the 2nd Congressional District at 6 p.m. June 25.
Candidates Will Cunningham, Brigid Callahan Harrison and Amy Kennedy will debate for one hour. The debate will be held on Zoom and livestreamed on YouTube. Links to view the debate will be available the day of the debate on the Hughes Center website at stockton.edu/hughes-center.
John Froonjian, executive director of the Hughes Center, will moderate the event.

Help Solve a Crime at Online CSI Camp 
High school students will still get a chance to solve a mock crime this summer when Stockton University offers a virtual version of its nationally known CSI Camp via Zoom from July 20-31.
While pandemic restrictions prohibited the residential camp from taking place on campus this summer, the two-week Stockton CSI Online camp will still offer participants the same opportunities to investigate a mock murder scene, identify evidence, interview witnesses, prepare a case for trial, and try the case in front of a judge and jury.
Participants will meet via zoom from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays during the two-week camp. There may also be some afternoon or evening Zoom sessions with guest speakers.
How We Are Helping #StopTheSpread
This week's #StopTheSpread feature highlights Stockton psychology and gerontology students participating in a car parade
on June 13 that visited four long-term care facilities on Jimmie Leeds Road.
The event was initiated by Our Children Making Change, a local non-profit that provides service opportunities for children who are too young to participate in traditional volunteer work. The group, founded by Laura Dulac, has raised over $525,000 over the last 12 years.
When OCMC came up with the idea, Christine Ferri, Stockton Associate Professor of Psychology and Fellow for the Stockton Center on Successful Aging, thought about facilities near the Galloway campus that regularly host student volunteers and interns.
“Since Stockton students cannot currently serve as interns and volunteers at these facilities, we needed to find a new way to maintain that connection between Stockton and the local health organizations,” Ferri said.

Resources Available to Staff, Faculty During COVID-19
There are many resources and best practices being made available to staff and faculty working remotely that can be found by visiting Information Technology’s website.
In addition to assistance with technology available from ITS, Stockton provides faculty and teaching staff with professional development, training, teaching ideas, resources and individual consultations via the Center for Learning Design.
The Office of Human Resources offers online Training Options for Stockton Employees. In case you missed it, this week's spotlight focuses on focuses on diversity, inclusion, and belongingness for all. LinkedIn Learning offers free courses: Communicating About Culturally Sensitive Issues. The Deer Oaks EAP website offers a wealth of resources on diversity and inclusion. Just type “diversity” in the search box) to find these resources and more: “Diversity in the Workplace: Maintaining an Inclusive Environment,” “Cultural Diversity in the Workplace,” and “Keeping Conflicts Productive.”
Additional resources include Training Options for Stockton Employees (diversity and inclusion resources added,) Resources for Supporting and Leading Your Team in Challenging Times and Remote Work Best Practices – new resources added weekly for managers and supervisors; and Wellness & Self-Care Resources - new resources added weekly.

‘Giving Reimagined’ Receives National Recognition 
The Stockton University Foundation recently received a Circle of Excellence Silver Award from The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for their entry, “Annual Giving Reimagined.”
The Circle of Excellence Awards acknowledge superior accomplishments that have lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and deliver exceptional results.
Stockton’s earned accolade was in the category of “Fundraising: Fundraising Improvement,” which focused on reimagined initiatives that improved the efficiency and/or the effectiveness of a fundraising office, initiative, activity or event.
“While the primary goal to increase alumni and non-alumni giving was realized in both dollars raised and gift count, equally important were our goals to create unity and pride across the generations, steward our donors, engage current students, and create campaigns that were creative, meaningful and memorable,” said Sue Werner, associate director of Development, who submitted the entry to CASE.
FRAME-WORTHY:
Stockton University's Sustainable Farm is a place where students can grow produce
and ideas through internships, course work and volunteer opportunities. This season
has been different without students, but the crops they started are still being harvested
to feed those in need.
Until students can return to campus, Ron Hutchinson, associate professor of Biology, and Robert McKeage, a professional services specialist, are tending to the crops and donating produce to the Community Food Bank in Egg Harbor Township. A recent 350-pound donation included radishes, spinach, lettuce and arugula.

Ten Ospreys Selected Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars 
Ten Stockton University student-athletes were recognized as 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars by the publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. The total is double Stockton's previous high of five honorees in 2018.
The five male selections were soccer player Joel Burgos, track & field competitors Cedric Cook and Qudratullah Qadiri, cross country and track & field runner Daniel Do, and lacrosse player Will Pellicier.
Stockton's five female recipients were rower Catelyn Andrews, field hockey goalie Niya Calloway, basketball player Raquel Harris-Scott, softball player Meg Murzello and track & field competitor Lauren Preston.

Town Hall Listening Session Scheduled June 23

On behalf of the President, we invite you to join a Town Hall Listening Session from 1:30-3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, to share your thoughts on diversity and inclusion at Stockton that will focus on the racial injustices our faculty, staff and students of color experience.
Zoom instructions will be provided on the day of the event.
We are looking forward to this opportunity to hear your concerns and work together as a community to address them. It is vitally important for us to continue our conversations - to hear each other, learn from one another, and make progress on these essential issues. We will also discuss the issues that have been raised on our email distribution lists the past several days.
Presidential Update June 25 Addresses Returning to Campus
Stockton staff and faculty are invited to join President Harvey Kesselman and other campus leaders to learn more about Stockton’s plans for the Fall 2020 semester
during a virtual session from 1:30-3 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. This session will
cover a variety of topics, including OSHE restart mandates and guidelines, health
and safety updates, academic offerings, residential housing, athletics, student support
services, and campus events, just to name a few. President Kesselman will be joined
by Michelle McDonald, interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs; Chris Catching, vice president for Student Affairs; Don Hudson, vice president for Facilities and Operations; and Jennifer Potter, chief financial officer.
