Visiting Writer Raquel Salas Rivera
Galloway, N.J. – Raquel Salas Rivera, the 2018-19 Poet Laureate of Philadelphia, will come to campus as a Visiting Writer at 2:10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 courtesy of the university’s Literature program. Their presentation will take place in the Campus Center Theater, and will be open to the public free of charge.
Rivera has been published in many outlets such as the Journal of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (Revista del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña) and Apogee. They have also served as a co-editor for many literary works such as The Wanderer and Puerto Rico en mi corazón, a collection of bilingual broadsides of contemporary Puerto Rican poets. Rivera co-coordinated the “We (Too) Are Philly” festival as well.
Rivera has received numerous fellowships and residencies from places like the Kimmel Center of the Performing Arts, CantoMundo, and the Sundance Institute.
