Understanding and Dealing with Opioid Addiction

Galloway, N.J. - “How Do We Address the Opioid Epidemic? A Panel on Understanding and Dealing with Opioid Addiction” will be held from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at Stockton University’s Alton Auditorium. The event is sponsored by Stockton’s American Democracy Project/Political Engagement Project.

The interdisciplinary panel will feature Stockton faculty and staff Nathaniel Hartman assistant professor of Biology, Jack Lewis assistant professor of Social Work, Michele Previti assistant professor of Health Science and Luanne Anton health educator in the Wellness Center, with moderator John Guers assistant professor of Exercise Science.

Panelists will discuss the neurobiology of opioid addiction, the scope of the current opioid epidemic and the social impacts and stigma associated with addiction. In addition, the panelists will share information about policy proposals being advanced to address the current crisis and will highlight the resources and support networks available to students on campus through the Wellness Center at Stockton University.
