Symposium on Peacebuilding in Colombia

Galloway, N.J. – The Stockton University Office of Global Engagement will host a symposium on Colombian politics at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 14 at the Campus Center Theatre. The panel will cover the topic of continuing the process of bringing sustainable peace and stability to Colombia while addressing remaining challenges.

The symposium titled ”Finding Peace in Colombian Politics: Lessons Learned and Challenges Ahead,” will focus on the historic peace agreement signed in 2016 between the Colombian government and The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, marking an end to the longest running civil conflicts in the Americas.

 “We are excited to hear from this panel of experts on what were those obstacles along the way and how things are progressing today,” said Director of Office of Global Engagement, India Karavackas about the challenges Colombia still faces.

The panel will feature guest experts in the field of Latin American politics. They include Law Faculty of Universidad del Rosario Dr. Rocio Del Pilar Pena Huertas, Program Manager at the Conflict Prevention & Peace Forum of the Social Science Research Council, Sabrina Stein, and Dr. Natalia Ruiz Morato of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Stockton University Professor of Political Science, Lauren Balasco.

The event is free and open to the public.
