Experience Dance Day

Galloway, N.J.  High school juniors and seniors interested in dance are invited to Stockton University’s annual Experience Dance Day on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017.

The event, sponsored by School of Arts and Humanities Dance Program provides high school students the opportunity to experience a wide array of new dance techniques with Stockton faculty and guests, and to learn about dance at the University level. Students may attend alone, or with a local school or studio.

Stockton’s Experience Dance Day has become a highlight of the dance season and has grown tremendously over the years. Those who attend will work with different artists in modern, ballet, jazz, improvisation and contemporary dance, experiencing what it would be like to major or minor in dance at the university level.

The day’s schedule is:

  • 9:30 a.m. – Registration (Performing Arts Center Stage)
  • 10 a.m.- 12:50 p.m. – Classes in various styles
  • 1-1:30 p.m.- Discussion on dance in college

Dance faculty and guests include Rain Ross, Associate Professor and Performing Arts Program Coordinator; Caitlin Quinn Pittenger, Assistant Professor of Dance; Beau Hancock, Stockton’s newest Dance faculty member; Chandra Moss-Thorne, Visiting Artist in Dance; Rebecca Sproul Gushue, Adjunct Instructor; and Gabriel Reyes, guest artist and Stockton alumnus.

“It is always wonderful to bring this group of high school students together; their excitement for the day is invigorating, and we love to share the joy and beauty of dance,” says Rain Ross, Associate Professor of Dance. “We are especially excited to see that we already have a record number of students joining us this year, indicating the true value of arts in education.”
