Conflicts of Interest within Nutrition
Who: Anthony Dissen, MA, RDN & Instructor of Health Sciences at Stockton University; Stockton at Manahawkin
What: Conflicts of Interest within Nutrition: The Impact of Public Health
When: 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 10
Where: 712 East Bay Avenue, Manahawkin, N.J. 08050
Event Description: Healthcare organizations like the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics are tasked with providing evidence-based information for both nutrition professionals as well as members of the public. But is this information always truly based on evidence, or are there other factors at play? Financial conflicts of interest often exist between members of the food industry and the Academy that can skew and influence the messages being provided.
This workshop will provide research on the public health consequences of conflicts of interest with the Academy and resources that members of the public and nutrition professionals can utilize to begin removing these conflicts. This event is eligible for 2.0 Continuing Education Units for RDNs and NDTRs.
Cost: Free and open to the public.
