Colcannon's Celtic Christmas Show

A “Christmas Come-All-Ye’ with Colcannon at the Stockton Performing Arts Center on Dec. 2 is a wonderful holiday presentation featuring great traditional and modern music, poems and stories. Audiences will enjoy all those great Irish Christmas tunes - a little wild, a little sad; as well as the famous tune about Mrs. Hooligan's immortal cake.

Show time is 4 p.m. Tickets are $33 and may be ordered online at stockton.edu/pac or by calling the Box Office at 609-652-9000. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 90 minutes before each performance. For Group Sales, please call 609-652-4786.

No other holiday has the mystique of Christmas. Be it the solemnity and reverence surrounding Bethlehem or the camaraderie and gift-giving of the more secular celebrations, the moods of Christmas are many and rich. Colcannon’s Celtic Christmas is a celebration of those many moods. From a reverential medieval Irish hymn to a modern folksinger’s wry observations of the ‘Christmas in Brooklyn,’ Colcannon’s Celtic Christmas is a moving and joyous celebration of the season. There’s even a polka!

The five-piece band is comprised of Mick Bolger, vocalist for the group, singing in both English and his native Irish (Gaelic) language, and also playing the bodhran (the Irish goatskin drum); Mike Fitzmaurice, double bass and guitar; Jean Bolger fiddle and accordion; Brian Mullins, guitar, mandolin, mandocello, bouzouki and flute;  and Cynthia Jaffe on flutes and whistles.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts and by funds from the National Endowment for the Arts.

For patrons with special needs, the Stockton Performing Arts Center offers wheelchair accessible seating, large type programs, and listening assistive devices.  Please identify any needs you may have when making a reservation.
