Indigenous Peoples' Day Event
Galloway, N.J. — Stockton University’s Art Gallery will celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday, Oct. 12 with a series of events that are free and open to the public.
The day will start with an Indigenous Arts Workshop on natural dyes and button-making from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All supplies and dyes will be provided. Sarah Lacy from the Noyes Museum of Art of Stockton University will lead the workshop.
Following the workshop, there will be a Lenapehoking Indigenous Youth Arts Initiative Panel Discussion from 2 to 3:30 p.m. There will also be a pop-up exhibit titled “Kahèsëna Hàki: An Indigenous Youth Arts Initiative” on display. The exhibit was previously featured this summer in the gallery.
The day’s events will wrap up at 4 p.m. with a panel talk titled “Genocide and Genocide-Denial in the Americas & Around the World” featuring Aaron Moss, associate professor of Theater, Ricardo Gabriel, assistant professor of Sociology, Jacob Camacho, assistant professor of Literature, and Adam Miyashiro, professor of Literature.
