Douglass Day

Atlantic City, N.J. – Celebrate Douglass Day at the Noyes Art Garage of Stockton University from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 with a transcribe-a-thon honoring the birthday of American social reformer, writer and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

Douglass Day invites people from all backgrounds to participate in making Douglass’ correspondence more accessible and searchable. The transcribe-a-thon will be streamed live on YouTube. Transcription will be completed using Crowd.loc.gov, a citizen science platform led by the Library of Congress.

Tablets will be available for use, or participants may bring their own devices to join thousands of others online. Students, teachers and community members will work together to create new, freely available resources for learning about Black history. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP online; however, seating is limited.

For more information, visit the Noyes Arts Garage website or call 609-626-3805. The Arts Garage is located at 2200 Fairmount Ave., in Atlantic City.
