Talk with Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia

Galloway, N.J. — The William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University will host Carlos G. Obrador, consul of Mexico in Philadelphia, for a public talk from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in the Campus Center Board of Trustees Room.

Carlos G. Obrador

The event is presented in collaboration with the Model UN and MEXSA student clubs.

Obrador will discuss the demands of diplomatic service and the challenges he has faced during more than three decades in the Mexican Foreign Service. His work comes at a time of significant demographic change. Latinos make up about 16% of Philadelphia’s population, a figure that continues to rise, mirroring national trends in which minority communities account for a growing share of the U.S. population. As cities become more diverse, cross-cultural communication and government services delivered through embassies and consulates play a central role in supporting residents and maintaining international ties.

Born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, Obrador earned a degree in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Since 1993, Obrador has held posts throughout North America. He has served as head consul in Philadelphia since November 2019.
