National Day on Writing
Galloway, N.J. – For the first time, Stockton University will participate in the National Day on Writing with a variety of activities starting at 12 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20.
Students joining in on the fun can expect to participate in four different writing-related activities. Participants who visit every station will have the opportunity to compete in a raffle for a gift basket.
Stations will include the following:
- Selfie Station – Take a selfie with (cardboard cutouts of) Edgar Allan Poe and Emily Dickinson and create impromptu poetry with Murphy Writing in the Writing Center, located in J-105.
- Postcard Station: Write and send a pre-stamped postcard to a friend in the C-Wing Atrium (Bjork Library’s temporary space).
- Exquisite Corpse Station: Choose and submit one line of prose that will be utilized in an ongoing and collaboratively written story in the Campus Center Food Court. The story will be available to view on both Murphy Writing's website and the Writing Center’s website.
- Haiku Station: Write a haiku about Stockton on a giant poster in F-Wing Atrium. The complete poster will be hung on the wall outside the Writing Center following the event.
This event is a collaborative effort between Writing Center Coordinator Eddie Horan, Associate Professor of Writing & First-Year Studies Joe Cirio and Murphy Writing of Stockton University.
