Tribute to Stephen Dunn

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University will host a tribute to the late poet Stephen Dunn from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Campus Center Theater and on Zoom.

Dunn, winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his book “Different Hours,” was a distinguished professor of creative writing at Stockton.  He joined Stockton in 1974 and taught at the university for more than 40 years.  He died in June on his 82nd birthday.

The tribute is coordinated by the Stockton School of Arts and Humanities and Murphy Writing of Stockton University.  The event will include colleagues and former students speaking about Dunn and reading his poems.

“Stephen had a huge influence on Stockton and its students, and Stockton and South Jersey also had a huge influence on Stephen and his work,” said Peter Murphy, founder of Murphy Writing.  “This tribute is an opportunity to share our memories of Stephen and renew our appreciation of his work.”
