The Cannabis & Hemp Research Initiative at Stockton University was founded to conduct hemp cultivation research, offer non-medical research opportunities to businesses, develop cannabis and hemp educational materials, host educational events and eventually offer hemp and cannabis testing services. These activities will positively impact local and national businesses. Above all, the goal of CHRIS is to further leverage Stockton’s commitment to hemp and cannabis education for students and like-minded partners.

CHRIS works to achieve these goals through

  • Annual career fairs hosted on campus for students and local job seekers
  • Quarterly educational panels
  • Our Cannabis Curriculum Convening
  • CHRIS works to achieve these goals through lab, field, and experiential research

Origins of Cannabis Courses Offered at Stockton

The Cannabis Studies minor program was started in 2018 to help prepare Stockton students interested in entering the cannabis and hemp industries. Led by the Coordinator of Cannabis Studies, Dr.Ekaterina Sedia, the university has offered multiple courses in a variety of cannabis related subjects and helped place students in internships around New Jersey. The following semester the Continuing Education department developed the Online Certificate of Cannabis Studies for adult learners looking to expand their cannabis knowledge.
