About the JOBS Program
The J.O.B.S. program was established by the New Jersey Judiciary, higher education institutions, and other private partners.
The Judiciary Opportunities for Building Success initiative is a program that helps
individuals on probation or involved in the justice system find a meaningful career
and succeed in their new life. We aim to assist with job searches, career counseling,
training, mental health services, and more to develop a skilled workforce that can
meet the demands of New Jersey's economy. Our program has grown with the support of
grants and partnerships with various organizations, such as Jewish Family Services
of Atlantic City and Ideal Institute of Technology. We now work with other higher
education institutions throughout the state. We dedicate ourselves to helping you
achieve your goals and establish a successful career. Our team of experts is available
to guide you through every step of the process, from building your resume to preparing
for interviews. Let us help you reach your full potential and succeed in your new
life.
Fighting Recidivism
Statistics reveal that one of the most significant factors contributing to recidivism, or the return to criminal behavior, is the lack of meaningful employment. The JOBS program aims to break this cycle, opening doors to success and opportunity for everyone in New Jersey.
The recidivism rate in New Jersey has significantly decreased over the past few years. The prison recidivism rate dropped by 19 percent over six years, with fewer than three in 10 of those released winding up reincarcerated within three years. The rate dropped from a high of 37 percent in 2007 to 29.8 percent in 2013. More recent data from May 2023 shows the recidivism rate in New Jersey to be 30.4%.
The JOBS Program can be essential factor in reducing recidivism rates in the state.
By providing individuals on probation with access to job training and employment opportunities,
the program has helped justice involved men, and woman reintegrate into society and
become productive workforce members. This not only benefits the individuals involved
but also has a positive impact on the broader community by reducing crime rates and
improving public safety. Continued investment in the jobs program can lead to increased
economic growth and stability in the community and further reductions in recidivism
rates. Overall, the JOBS Program will plays a crucial role in the state's efforts
to reduce recidivism and improve the lives of its citizens.
