Provost Search
The Provost Search Committee, charged with building a broad, diverse pool of candidates and conducting outreach and interviews, ultimately will make a recommendation to the President in November 2023.
*Dates are designed to optimize community input, but are also subject to change, if needed.
May 2023 - June 2023
- The search committee will meet to finalize the timeline, outreach strategies, priorities, and desired characteristics of a potential provost.
- The search chairs host a campus forum to gather feedback on the draft profile and job description and to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the position.
- Search committee finalizes the leadership profile and job description with input from the campus community.
June 2023 - August 2023
- The job is posted and recruitment begins.
- The search committee finalizes interview materials.
September 2023
- Application materials are reviewed individually by the search committee on an ongoing basis.
October 2023
- The search committee determines semi-finalists.
- Virtual interviews are conducted between October 23rd and October 26th.
- Finalists are invited to an in-person interview.
November 2023
- 2-day interviews are conducted on campus between November 6th and November 17th, including candidate presentations for the campus community at 4:30pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Finalists may meet with additional constituents as needed.
- The search committee prepares to recommend acceptable candidates to the President.
December 2023
- The President will extend an offer to the desired candidate. The final candidate accepts the offer and an appointment will be announced to the campus community.
To oversee the process of selecting the next Provost, the Staff and Faculty Senates collaborated with the Deans and President to form a search committee. The committee will manage the recruitment and assessment of candidates, presenting finalists to the President and campus community.
