Perl and Emanuel Anhalt
Emanuel and Perl (Perla) Anhalt were both born in Kraków in 1909.
Emanuel and Perl Anhalt’s war experiences are unknown, however, they were both at a displaced persons camp in Schweinfurt, Germany.
They came to the United States in 1949 with their two children.
The Anhalts were first mentioned in the Vineland Daily Journal in 1951, when Emanuel was granted a permit to build a “chicken house” at 1448 West Garden Rd. The Anhalts remained in Vineland until at least 1972, when they received a permit to demolish a “house and 5 coops” at their former address. Perl Anhalt passed away in 1988 in Florida. Emanuel died on February 18, 1998, also in Florida.
Their daughter Alice (Alwina) and their son Steve (Stefan) both lived with their parents on the poultry farm. Alice married Gilbert Goldstein in 1958, two years after graduating from Vineland High School, and after that lived in Miami and Honduras as Alice Goldstein. Stephen Anhalt is mentioned in the Times Journal a few times, lastly in 1954. His parents’ obituaries in 1988 (Perl) and 1998 (Emmanuel) both note that he was living with his wife, June, in East Hills, NY, but no other documentation has been found on Steve Anhalt.
