There is a four-hour limit on use. A Stockton ID card must be presented.
Materials Use, Returns and Charges
Renewals
Request online, by phone, or in person.
Recalls
The library may recall any item and shorten its due date.
- Books are subject to recall 3 weeks after check-out.
- DVDs are subject to recall 5 days after check-out.
- Items for course reserve subject to immediate recall.
Overdue Materials
The library may place a hold on a student record if library materials are not returned. Once a hold is placed on a student’s record, they cannot borrow library materials, register for classes, obtain a Stockton transcript, or receive their degree until the overdue material is returned.
Claims Returned
If your account shows an item as checked-out or overdue that a borrower believes they returned, the borrower should notify the library immediately.
The borrower is expected to search their possessions for the item, while the library conducts an internal search for the item. The library will searches each month for a six month period or until an applicable graduation date.
If the item isn't found by the end of the search period, the library will bill the borrower the Lost/Damaged Item Charge.
Lost/Damaged Items
The current Lost/Damaged Item Charge, as approved by the Board of Trustees, is $50.00
per item. The amount of the charge does not vary according to the amount of damage
or the replacement cost of the item. Each volume is considered an individual item.
Everyone is subject to Lost/Damaged Item Charges. Students, alumni, and community
borrowers who incur Lost/Damaged Item Charges have their borrowing privileges suspended
until the charge is paid. Students who are assessed this charge also have a hold placed
on their student record. Faculty and Staff who are leaving the employ of the University
and have unpaid library charges will address the Lost/Damaged Item Charge in the course
of their exit interview. Community borrowers may be suspended from further borrowing
for one year.
A Lost/Damaged Item Charge that is in arrears for six months will be referred to the
New Jersey Division of Taxation for recovery through the SOILS program. This program
places a lien on any personal income tax refund due to a New Jersey resident.
