Stockton to Offer New Jerseys First Masters Level Program in Criminal Justice Featuring a Homeland Security Track

GALLOWAY TWP., NJ The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is in a uniquely strategic position vis--vis its collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration William J. Hughes Technical Center, Federal Air Marshals, the anticipated development of a new Aviation Research and Technology Park and the Coast Guard to offer an exceptional program in homeland security. The College will offer the first homeland security program directly linked to a criminal justice graduate-level curriculum. Stocktons geographical proximity to New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. offers a prime location as the education site for this cutting-edge program.

Major Mark Anarumo, Ph.D. of the United States Air Force Security Forces is coming to Stockton in Fall 2007 to assist in program development and course instruction. Major Anarumos experience includes leading a squadron whose task is to provide security for the 43^rd Airlift Wing, the 23^rd Fighter Group, the 18^th Air Support Operations Group and 11 tenant units assets and weapons systems that includes more than $1.4 billion in aircraft and $784 million in infrastructure. His expertise includes the training and equipping of a dozen different types of deployable air base defense teams. He has achieved recognition as the Top Gun Award winner and the Honor Graduate and Leadership Award winner in a Ground Combat Skills Level IV course. Major Anarumo graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, U.S. Army Pathfinder School, U.S. Army Air Assault School, and a number of courses at the U.S. Air Force Special Operations School. Among his many major awards and decorations are the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force as well as Army Commendation Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor.

According to Dr. Cheryl Kaus, Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Major Mark Anarumo joins a top-notch faculty in Stocktons Master of Arts Degree Program in Criminal Justice. This innovative track complements an already sterling program that includes a fusion of the behavioral sciences and technological innovations that also offers another track in forensic psychology.

Students electing classes in the homeland security track can select from a number of courses that cover crime mapping and analysis, cyber-terrorism, the intelligence community, private security for business, airport and seaport security, and global and domestic terrorism. Stockton, a nationally ranked public liberal arts college, offers small class sizes with award-winning faculty. Students wishing to pursue graduate study can begin courses in spring, 2007.
