Galloway Township, NJ The Richard Stockton College of New Jerseys students faculty and staff will fan out in the community today, Thursday, August 31, 2006 for the annual Day of Service.

We do a Day of Service to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his national holiday, but today is something we do to help our neighbors and for new students to get to know one another, said President Herman J. Saatkamp, Jr.

The participants will engage in a variety of activities to help community agencies and individuals. These services will include cleanup efforts at the Forsythe Wildlife area and Patriot Lake in Galloway Twp. There will be human services efforts made at the ARC of Atlantic County and the Free-to-Be Daycare Center on campus.

Students, staff and faculty will also volunteer their services at the Community Foodbank of Atlantic County, PleasanTech Charter School, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and Sister Jeans Kitchen among many other agencies.

Dr. Saatkamp will make brief opening remarks to the students at 8:30 a.m. in the Stockton Sports Center and buses will transport the volunteers to their respective sites. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a barbeque back at the college for all the volunteers.
