The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Sponsors Free Workshop on Tourette Syndrome

Galloway Township, NJ The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will sponsor a workshop for educators on the topic of Tourette Syndrome, Friday, April 1, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Townsend Residential Life Center adjacent to parking lots 6 and 7.

 

The workshop, especially relevant to educators and social workers, is designed to teach about Tourette Syndrome and its associated disorders. School-related issues will be emphasized. It will enable educators to recognize students' difficulties as well as their strengths and potential. Helpful interventions and modifications for behavior management will be addressed, along with appropriate forms of discipline.

 

The course offers approaches and strategies that enable teachers to create a learning environment that supports the social/emotional and intellectual development of all students in the classroom.

 

Susan Conners received her Master's Degree in Secondary French Education from the University of Buffalo. She is a long-time high school language teacher and department chair, and founder and current president of the Western New York Chapter of the Tourette Syndrome Association. She is currently employed as the Education Specialist for TSA, and has Tourette Syndrome herself, as do several members of her family.
