GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. A Royal Caribbean Cruise plus airfare, sapphire earrings from Bernie Robbins Jewelers, a luxurious weekend in New York City including limousine; prime seats plus a gourmet dinner before Rod Stewarts concert at Boardwalk Hall and Philadelphia 76ers tickets for six people vs. Shaquille ONeal and the Miami Heat with playoff implications on the line. These are just a few of the spectacular items bidders will vie for on Saturday April 9 at the 25^th Silver Anniversary Spring Benefit at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

 

The Benefit supports scholarships for deserving students at the College and will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in Stocktons I-Wing gym with a sumptuous dinner menu (and dessert menu later) designed by Wolfgang Puck Catering. After dinner, guests will enjoy a performance by Oscar, Grammy and Tony-award winning entertainer Marvin Hamlisch in the Stockton Performing Arts Center. Hamlisch is the composer of such well-known motion picture scores as The Way We Were and The Sting.

 

All proceeds from the $175 per person event directly benefit the Richard Stockton College Foundations Scholarship Fund.

 

Following Marvin Hamlischs performance, the live and silent auctions will take place. Bidding is expected to be lively as the items range from the luxurious to the moderate such as dinners at popular local restaurants, memberships at local health clubs and goods and services from around the region. There will be fine art, sports memorabilia and equipment, something for everyone.

 

Our Spring Benefit Committee outdid itself this year in securing auction items that people will want to enjoy while helping the greater good by providing scholarships for our students, said Peter Caporilli, president of The Richard Stockton College Foundation.

 

In addition to the aforementioned items, some of the top auction prizes include:

 

         Ranch mink vest trimmed with black fox fur from Nathan Levin Fur (to be custom made for winning bidder.)

         Sonoma California Winery Trip: Two nights including Franciscan Estates guest house in St. Helena, Ca., Private barrel tasting and vineyard tour at Ravenswood winery, private wine tasting, and private lunch for two with Joel Peterson, Founder and Winemaker at Ravenswood Winery in Sonoma CA., and six bottles of Ravenswood Designate Zinfandels.

         Kayak, vests and eco-tourism trips.

 

This promises to be our most spectacular Spring Benefit ever, Caporilli said. The trip to New York includes not only round-trip limo service from Avalon Limousine, but a two-night stay at the Rihga Suite, which is a JW Marriott Resort. The Rod Stewart show tickets include dinner for two at Docks Oyster House. As an avid golfer, Ill no doubt be bidding on those packages myself.
