Stockton College Spring Benefit Moves Off-Campus for First Time in 26 Years; Trump Taj Mahal to Host Annual Gala

Atlantic City, NJ For the first time in its 26 year history, the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will move the Spring Scholarship Benefit to an off-campus location on April 8, 2006.

 

Last years 25^th Anniversary edition of the event, featuring Oscar-winning composer and entertainer Marvin Hamlisch, raised a record-breaking amount of more than $200,000 with an additional $100,000 in matching funds placed in endowment by the College.

 

The success of the event has necessitated a shift to a different venue to continue its rapid growth.

 

The purpose of the Benefit has always been to raise funds for scholarships and we have simply reached the maximum capacity our campus can handle, Stockton President Herman J. Saatkamp said. We are delighted to have entered into a partnership with Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc., and to be taking our Benefit to such a world-class facility as the Trump Taj Mahal. This partnership will soon result in an exciting announcement about our entertainment for the Benefit and our fundraising goals.

 

Saatkamp added that Mark Juliano, Chief Operating Officer for Trump Entertainment Resorts had been named Honorary Chairman for the event.

 

Were very excited to be in a position to take the Benefit to even greater heights, Saatkamp said, and having the Trump organization and the talent of Mark Juliano behind us is a remarkable advantage.

 

Juliano is the dynamic marketing leader whose expertise has been felt in the gaming industry and particularly Atlantic City, since the 1980s. Previously President of Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, where he reestablished that property as a leader of the Las Vegas Strip, Juliano was President and CEO of Caesars Atlantic City from 1994 to 1999 and has served on the executive staff of Caesars World. He has also demonstrated a dedication to civic and philanthropic organizations. He has served on the boards of the Atlantic City Medical Center, Alexs Lemonade Stand, the Sisters of Mercy and Opportunity Village.

 

Saatkamp also lauded the efforts of Benefit Chairpersons Mac and Kay Seelig, whom he described as bridge builders in terms of philanthropy and bringing members of our various communities together.

 

The Seeligs have been crucial to our efforts in building relationships with the casino industry, Saatkamp said. This goes hand in hand with our presence in Atlantic City with our Satellite Center at the Carnegie Library Building and with our Hospitality Management Program, Masters in Business Administration degree program and our numerous internship opportunities with local businesses. We are proud to have Trump Entertainment Resorts, the Taj Mahal, Mark Juliano and the Seeligs on our team as we move ahead with plans for our most exciting Spring Benefit to date.

 

Stocktons Spring Scholarship Benefit is an evening of fine gourmet dining, live and silent auctions of goods and services and spectacular entertainment. Proceeds from the event benefit deserving students and the scholarship fund at the College.
