Stockton College to Offer Web-based

Soil Survey Workshops

 

Environmental Studies Program offers free workshops of interest to Planning, Zoning Boards, Environmental Commissions, etc.

Galloway Township, NJ The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will host free workshops on how to use the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Services web-based county soil survey. Previously, this information was available only in text-based hardcopy and was difficult to present the information. Recently, however, the information was made available to anyone with Internet access.

 

County soil surveys are useful to members of local Planning and Zoning Boards, Environmental Commissions, Watershed Associations, private companies interested in environmental issues as well as individuals with an interest in soil-based environmental information.

 

The workshops will take place on December 10, 2005 in two sessions at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. The morning session will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the afternoon session will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The workshops will take place in computer lab, CC-103 on the Galloway Twp. campus. Directions to the campus can be found on the college website, www.stockton.edu.

 

Instructors for the workshops will be Dr. Ray Mueller of the Environmental Studies Program, Chris Smith, USDA-NRCS, Acting State Soil Scientist, and Edwin Munez, USDA-NRCS, Southern New Jersey Soil Scientist.
