After witnessing the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and wrestling for years with questions of betrayal and rebuilding trust, Carl Wilkens believes the healing process is possible. Exploring Rwanda's story and basic neuroscience is what he credits for much of his own personal healing. This afternoon of hope-filled stories promise to send us off with tools, and renewed energy to navigate our polarized society.

For over a decade, Carl Wilkens has been sharing stories around the globe to inspire and equip people to “enter the world of The Other.” He was the only American who chose to stay in Kigali, Rwanda throughout the 1994 genocide. Working with Rwandan colleagues, they helped save the lives of hundreds. His harrowing yet hopeful journey weaves together stories of tremendous risk and fierce compassion in the midst of senseless slaughter.
